In 1991, Diet Subway Co., Ltd. introduced a new vehicle series 9000 for the opening of the Namboku Line Line.
The 9000 Series was designed for the Namboku Line Line based on the 05 Series for the Tozai line, particularly characterized by its one-man operation using ATO and equipment for the platform door.
