Born in Tainan, Taiwan, in 1945. After graduating from Kobe City University of Foreign Studies in 1967, he became an English teacher at a public junior high school in Toyonaka City, Osaka.
Retired in 2000.
Graduated in 1999 from the Department of International Culture at Osaka University of Foreign Studies.
Completed the first half of the Graduate School of Letters at Osaka University of Foreign Studies in 2003.
