■ Product explanation ■ The "Kurahashi" and "Yashiro" were commissioned in 1944 as the 5th and 6th Mikura class coastal defense ships.
Following the Etorofu class, the Mikura class was operated to protect the fleet in the South Sea Route.
To strengthen anti-air and anti-submarine warfare capabilities, the main guns were changed from the conventional to the high-angle guns, equipped with one single type in the front part and one tandem type in the rear part, for a total of three types. The number of detonators increased significantly from 36 to 120, and there were also two detonators.
The "Kurahashi" and "Yashiro" survived the World War by escorting the fleet in the Manila and Singaporean areas. After the war, both of them were designated as special minesweepers under the jurisdiction of the Ominato Regional Demobilization Bureau, and they carried two minesweepers in the waters near Kikai-jima Island.
In 1947, the "Kurahashi" was transferred to the United Kingdom and the "Yashiro" was transferred to the Republic of China as compensation ships.
