At the beginning, the 8 cars were placed in the Niitsu Transport Area. The waist part was decorated with a narrow band of orange and red and the illustration of "Ermine" as an accent. We could see them mixed with the Kiha 110 series in Banetsu West Line, Uetsu Main Line and Yonesaka Line.
